A Humanitarian Catastrophe That Continues
Since March 2024, Gaza has endured sustained bombardment, siege, and the deliberate restriction of essential supplies - conditions that have pushed an already vulnerable population into a prolonged humanitarian catastrophe.
As of January 2026, the situation remains critical. The collapse of ceasefire efforts and ongoing military escalation have left families trapped with nowhere safe to go. Homes, hospitals, and shelters have been repeatedly targeted, forcing civilians to flee again and again - often in the dead of night - without warning or protection.
Hospitals are barely functioning, overwhelmed by casualties and crippled by severe shortages of medicine, fuel, electricity, and clean water. Hunger has become widespread, with famine-like conditions reported across much of Gaza, particularly among children, the elderly, and the displaced.
What’s happening in Gaza today?
More than 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced, many multiple times, now living in overcrowded shelters or makeshift camps.
Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed, with many more injured or missing beneath the rubble.
Food insecurity is extreme, with entire communities surviving on minimal rations or going days without meals.
Clean water is scarce, forcing families to rely on unsafe sources and increasing the spread of disease.
Healthcare systems have effectively collapsed, leaving the wounded and chronically ill without treatment.
This is not a short-term emergency - it is a sustained humanitarian disaster.
Al Ianah’s Emergency Response
For nearly a decade, Al Ianah Humanity Welfare has stood with Palestinian communities. Today, our commitment remains unwavering.
Our teams and partners are active across all five governorates - North Gaza, Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and Rafah - responding to urgent needs every single day.
Since the escalation, Al Ianah has delivered:
Over 1 million litres of clean water, helping families survive amid extreme shortages
Thousands of emergency food packs, reaching displaced households
Thousands of hot, ready-to-eat meals, distributed in shelters and overcrowded camps
Essential aid items, including hygiene kits, bedding, and cooking supplies
All assistance is delivered through trusted local partners and carefully managed supply routes to ensure aid reaches those most in need despite severe access restrictions.
How is aid still reaching Gaza?
Despite immense challenges, Al Ianah continues to operate through:
Local procurement, sourcing food, water, and essential items inside Gaza wherever possible
Private and humanitarian supply routes, when official crossings are restricted or closed
Strong local partnerships, including collaboration with community organisations and international agencies
Rigorous risk management, allowing rapid adaptation to changing security and access conditions
Our teams remain on the ground, committed to delivering life-saving assistance every day.
