What is Zakat?

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and a compulsory act of worship for every eligible Muslim. It is a set portion of wealth given each year to those whom Allah ﷻ has made rightful recipients - purifying your wealth and uplifting those in need.

Zakat becomes obligatory when a Muslim owns wealth above the Nisab threshold for a full lunar year. It is due at 2.5% on eligible assets such as cash, savings, gold and silver, investments, and business stock - after deducting immediate debts and essential expenses.

More than charity, Zakat is a trust (amanah). When given correctly, it brings barakah to your wealth and protects the most vulnerable in our Ummah.
